John if you run across another small place with similar quality, give me a call after you get what you want.
I might drag a trailer up there just to have the experience of using clear wood.
I need to get out of the house anyway.

I'd be happy to do that but I'm not optimistic I'll ever find a sawyer with that kind of quality wood again, at below-market prices. I had an 'inside contact' who knew the sawyer, who was a bit reclusive. His mill was pretty cool- inside an old power plant.
Good lumber really makes work more pleasant, but now that I paint my boats, cosmetics don't matter so much. It is nice to be able to pick up an 18' strip by one end and not worry about short grain causing the piece to snap. :-)
