Not true, from what I've seen

Yes, George has been and probably will continue to be rather abrasive. However, I've found that if you ask him direct questions about specific subjects, rather than just "tell us everything you do", he'll give you direct answers. Although I don't know everything about his boat building methods and probably never will, he's told me as much as I need to know to give it a shot.

As for guarding his "secrets", I haven't seen any evidence of that either. He has never refused to answer a question of mine. Frankly, I don't think he has anything to worry about as most people would not be willing to take the time to mill the tiny, grain matched strips, do multiple layers of wet layup glass, etc. when they can build a functional boat much faster. In addition to taking much more time to build a boat this way, it also adds substantially to the cost. According to George, he takes as much time milling the strips for a boat as many people take to build one start to finish.

Personally, I probably will never do a boat using all of George's methods either, but many of the principles can be incorporated into current designs without a major increase in building time or cost.
