Hi again Paul;

Interesting thing about those bubbles; When rollering hull fill coats with the West foam roller cover, I'd generate so many bubbles that the area I was rollering would look near milky. Then in a minute or two, they would be gone. When I first started, I thought I'd have to stop, clean up, and modify my application technique. When I saw how quickly they dissipated, I finished rollering the hull in mere minutes! I don't exactly remember the temps here, but probably around 80F. I used that Ding-All epoxy and it is slow and thin.

I've been pondering a precoat on the deck, which would get me a slap on the wrists from my glassing friend. Having had good luck without one on the hull, I don't know if I should mess with the formula. Plus, I've been warned not to even consider another epoxy application without washing the blush off the previous coat - regardless of the amount of time. That would complicate a precoat and involve sanding the precoat as well. Nonetheless, I can see some of the advantages of precoating.

It would be interesting to compare panel strengths of multiple low weight cloth layups against a single heavier weight cloth, I don't think anyone has actually posted test info. There may be some validity there. As to ease of wet-out, this I don't understand. When we did my hull, there were 3 layers of 6 oz glass for 5-6' up the stems and wet out was fine even without a precoat. I had no idea what to expect, but it sure seemed easy to me. I'm beginning to think it might have a lot to do with the epoxy and the cloth, or rather the coating on the cloth - - And, the generous and rapid application of epoxy . . . ;-)

Please keep me informed of how the multiple lighter weight layups turn out, and I will surely post any problems in deck glassing - BTW, any recommendations on max temp/humidity before epoxy application gets scary? It's really warming up in Fla, and the humidity has been inching up, about 77% today - I know I would never spray lacquer in this weather, but it has solvents and epoxy doesn't. Any comments?

Best Regards, Spidey
