The site referred to for the cross Canada trip is kayakcanada99 which can be found at http://www.mcgill.ca/kayak There is really good information about the Knupak system and a nice read on the travelling. Regarding the kayak cart. I have a good foldable Feathercraft cart, but I know that there are many portages in wilderness areas that are not suitable for carts. Mud, steep inclines, rocks, tight corners and other natural hazards make it preferable to use a carrying device of some sort. That said, I can't carry my kayak on my back - too old and creaky. I get a buddy along to help carry.
