You may be able to use regular wood glue or polyurethane glue. Let us know how it works out. A 1:8 scarf should give you enough surface area. If you switch back to epoxy, wet each surface with unthickened epoxy, then mix-in some cabosil to thicken it, coat each surface with a thin coat and clamp gently. You don't want to squeeze-out all the thickened epoxy, so you'll have to use a light touch on the narrow strips.
