Re: Skin-on-Frame: Differences between SOF and fus

I've built two Yost designs, sea tour 15 and sea tour 15exp and I've wondered about skin deformation between the chines. I seem to recall a comment in the Yost manual about skin deformation limiting the maximum beam. Multi-chine boats like the 15 exp would have less deformation and thus could be wider. This would also be a difference between the conventional SOF and fuselage SOF since the ribs are closer than the chine spacing. Finally, both my boats came in at 28 lbs using cedar stringers and 1/2" plywood frames and 9 oz nylon with Corey's goop.
