Rich,

I think that skin deformation is controlled by the distance between the stringers. Typically the ribs will not touch the skin, specifically due to the "scallops" cut into the ribs.
So more stringers, less deformation.
I am assuming you are talking about the bowing of the skin up into the hull due to water pressure.
My Yost's were all the multi stringer versions of the 16exp. Well, 2-16's, 1-17, 1-13, and a 20-double. But all generically the same.
