So how does that fit your boat?
Nothing I have would fit a 130 degree V.

How do you tie the boat down?

Don't you have to raise the boat quite high to get it into the rack?

It does not really fit any boat in particular. I plan on using minicel foam cut and carved to fit individual boats. Below is a racing boat (Nick's Mystery) sitting DECK-side-up. In this picture the rack is upside down from how it is to be used. Ignore the carpeted bracket on top, and focus only on the curve of the deck and the 130 degree V. The minicel will be held in place with Velcro. I built this boat for racing as a USCA "K1 Sea Kayak"

Here is the same 130 degree V, still upside down, sitting on a Great Auk, HULL-side-up. It's a different boat, but it will not take too much foam in either case to evenly cushion the boat surface against the rack.

Tying the boat down is accomplished by having a peg protruding from the bottom of the Vee. This peg is used to anchor the standing end of tie downs. The tie down is tossed over the top and a short bungee loop (don't go all postal on me, just yet) is again placed over the peg. I plan on using a Thule strap in the middle for redundancy. There will be fore and aft ropes for trips on Interstate highways.

Solo loading is no problem for me. I am 6'3" with a 6'7" arm reach. Solo loading a 33 pound Nelo Razor onto my friend's car is a snap. My 5'6" tall friend needs a ladder to do it alone. I drive a 2014 Ford Escape, the roof is at my neck height.
