Unless you have a really long roof on the car to carry it, with that long cockpit I think I'd carry it upside down like a canoe. Would have the side advantage of keeping the rain out of it. Trust me, you really don't want to bail a kayak while it's on the roof, I've done it, with a coffee cup, the only thing I had with me.

Carried upside down you could just use the supports that Yakima sells for their round bars for canoes, they are pretty inexpensive, and work well too, I've got a set.
