Just a little useful advice I'd like to pass on from a conversation with a gentleman I met at Canoecopia this year. He was telling me a aweful story how he ruined his Shearwater 17 S&G. He had built 2 boats for his wife and him and they were mounted on top of his Pathfinder.He had them strapped down but on the left front strap he had an excess of loose webbing . All of a sudden while driving the loose strap of one of the kayaks wrapped around his front axle and tightened to the point of the kayak snapping in half and causing considerable damage to the vehicle. He said it was such a loud bang and even his windshield was damaged. So beware and cut your straps to a safe length.
