Hi John, I also trim before epoxying, not only to save the cloth, but I find the cloth on or in the boat will conform to curves better when wet out if the are no large areas of uncoated cloth at the ends.

I agree about laying out on the diagonal as much as possible in general, as it also gives two larger, more useful off cuts rather than four smaller ones, as well as possibly improving drape, not so certain. However, I have found that this does not work so well, for some inexplicable reason, with tight-weave, and I get better drape results laying that on straight. If anyone has had a similar experience with tight-weave, or has a theory regarding this I would be intrigued.
