While the sea anchor solves one problem - keeping the boat pointed into the waves - it creates other issues. It's one more piece of gear that must be stored until used, deployed during the rescue and most importantly, retrieved and stowed after the rescue. Since you'll still be in the same conditions that caused the capsize in the first place, having to deal with retrieving and stowing gear could easily result in you ending up back in the water again. Perhaps that risk is still better than not being able to get back into the boat at all, but it still seems like a Band-Aid on a larger problem. The solution is to learn better self-rescue technique, not to buy another piece of gear.
