I do agree that insulation is very important and saves considerable money and stabilizes the temperature variations.

The CO is more easily managed than I first thought. I have a propane burner in my shop that I frequently use to bring the temp up quickly. It has no fan and simply clamps to the top of a 20# cylinder. It is a "Mr. Heater" brand. I also have a CO monitor that I know works.

The only time the CO monitor has gone off is when I have the following conditions:
1.) My dust collection is running, and I have not opened up all of my "make up air" vents. My dust collector does not have an end stage filter, rather it is vented to the outside.
2.) My woodstove is fired up. The dust collecter creates a downdraft in the chimney of my wood burning stove. In comes the smoke, and the monitor sounds.

I am certain the propane burner is not perfect, but CO emmisions from it seem to be rather low. A propane burner and a CO monitor, appear to me to be a pretty good solution.
