: Hi Rob;

: I must respectfully disagree as to your suggestion of taking the time
: necessary to fit the strips properly to achieve a fair surface, but then
: whacking in 2 holes with a staple gun -several hundred times- and
: qualifying it by saying the darkly colored staple holes are not TOO
: visible when viewed from a distance . . .

I didn't say the staple holes were TOO visible, I said they weren't visible at all, once you've put your boat in the water. You see staples holes are water soluble.

I was suggesting that it would be worthwhile to use staples if you are having trouble laying your strips flat against the stems or any other part of the boat rather than have a surface resembling a shingled roof.

I only use staples below the waterline on my kayaks. The rest of the boat is done stapless.

Time is an issue for me. I can't take weeks to strip a boat. I use hot glue and strip a hull or deck in two to three days depending on how many phone calls I'm taking or how many of these postings I'm answering.

COME ON, raid my shop. My attack cat is waiting for you!

Rob
