I just made the cockpit combing on my new Hybrid S-n-G/Strip-deck Baidarka and Cross stripped the cockpit recess first, then 'glassed inside and out, then did the vertical combing. this way the 'glass lies nice and smoothly over the entire deck and is easy to uniformly wet out (no precoat this time. Also the whole structure was stronger for sanding etc. Glassing the lip could be done carefully at my leisure.
