Ive installed these footbraces on most of my boats and found them quite comfortable, as have those who have tried them.

Their advantages are (besides the fact you can make them yourself) that they support your entire foot (not just the ball or arch) and they are easily adjustable while afloat (just pop the skirt and move the restraining rope onto a different hook)

Their disadvantages are that the portion of the footbrace which rides on the track (between your heels) reduces the amount of foot room available in low to mid volume kayaks such as more classic greenland style boats (outer Island and my Merganser) which is a problem if you have big feet like me. Also, if you do not round the footbraces enough wher your heels rest you CAN get sore heels.

I've made verrsions of this footbrace which pivot to control a rudder (my first kayak had this) and one which has the support track under the deck to give more heel room.
