: Hi Fred, the keepers have been in my Mariner for 5 yrs and have held up ok, I think I replaced 1 footpeg. I've used keepers in another boat and had them rip off the rails while being tumbled in the surf, a friend had keepers in her P&H and they ripped off in 1/2 yr, nearly all the rental boats with keepers have some problem with popping off at some point. The Yakima ones may get clogged easily with sand, but if one person is using the boat then they aren't being moved much. With Yakimas and homebuilt boats you can cut them in half and move the bulkhead up closer.
