In a race in Mid-April this this year in northern Massachusetts, I went into the Millers River, while there was still a small amount of ice in back bays and such. I was wearing a dry-suit with light fleece pants and thin lycra top underneath. I was immersed to my neck for about 3 minutes as I swam my boat the 75 feet to shore. I was a little cold and guess I could not have gone more than about 10 minutes longer. Sure glad I had the dry-suit on.
