Hi Brad,
Depends on what "un-pure" tung oil is. I would tend to do any mixing of extra ingredients to oils myself, that's just preference.
Here, it's difficult to find tung oil in the pure state, any store bought tung oils I've seen have little of it in the mix. A lot of evaporative stuff and some driers I don't like handling.

I've tried test pieces with varnished mixed with the linseed but didn't like the feel of it, dry or wet.

Though for problems with "un-pure" oils is that some people are sensitive or become sensitive to the evaporants and driers used, either by the fumes or by skin contact.
