NDK boats are neither stronger or more durable than much lighter boats from companies that use better materials and methods. The reason that NDK boats are heavy is that they're poorly built using lousy materials, so they have to overbuild them to make them strong enough to survive. I also know a lot of people who own NDK boats and they all love the way they paddle; their performance on the water has never been an issue. However, most of them also have quality complaints and as you state, they universally complain about the excessive weight. If a more reputable company like Seaward, QCC, Impex, Valley, P&H or any number of others built NDK's designs, they would be lighter and more durable for the same or less money. NDK as a manufacturer is a bad joke. Nigel may be a great designer, but he apparently has no idea how to build a quality product.
