: Recently and CLC's OkoumeFest JB Currell of MAS Epoxies suggested adding
: approximately 1 tablespoon of Cabosil to 4 ounces of mixed resin used on
: fill coats to help control the surface tension of the resin. He feels that
: this reduces the chance of fish-eye and orange peel caused by surface
: contamination and other factors. He says that the coating will still be
: clear and will go on more smoothly.

: I do not have any experience with this technique but it is being recommended
: an epoxy manufacturer who wants his customers to be happy with the
: results. I would do some experiments before going to the this technique,
: but it sounds like it is worth investigating.

All this great information from everyone, thank you. I have taken it all on board.
Having a close look at the finish this morning, there are no runs or sags anywhere even on the near vertical surfaces so I don't think the coats were too thick.
I didn't get this issue with the first coat I did so that rules out the brand of epoxy. That leaves contaminants, blush & roller as the likely suspects.
I think my next move is to eliminate these one by one to determine which is the offending factor.
I will wash & wet sand (no lacquer thinners) after this coat has hardened off a bit more, then I'll still use the roller (I did feel comfortable with it & it also gave me a nice even coat) but I'll tip it off quickly as I go rather than leave it too long.
If, after I start this new coat, I still get this effect then I'll change to a very short nap mohair roller that I have, if it's still there then I may discard the roller altogether.
I figure by the time I get to the 16th or 17th coat I should have it fixed :-)
How long should I leave this coat harden before I wet sand? So far it's been about 12hrs (overnight) & I can mark it with my fingernail quite easily & a fingerprint stays if I press hard enough but it is definitely not tacky.
