You got it Tim,

It's been referred to as a rolling bevel because the bevel changes as you work your way along the boat. I learned a little trick from Jay Babina that I used on my Outer Island. I took about half of my strips and milled one edge at a slight angle and left the other side square. That way I reduced the amout of planing I needed to do.

What I do is locate the strip first and then work my way down the joint with the plane until the edges match. You will get joints that you can see light throught on the inside when the boat is complete in places, but you don't see the gap from the outside. The gaps end up much tighter than those you end up removing the cove edge on when fairing. You will end up using less filler which in my opinion looks much worse.
