Its not just Greenland kayaks that have the long overhangs. Many other areas a considerable distance away from Greenland used bow and stern overhangs for similar reasons. Many of the recorded examples of east Canadian kayak have much longer sections of bow hanging over the water, and its common to see baidarkas trim out with the bow sticking up out of the water as well. Some central Canadian examples are even more extreme.
