Stacy, what size of Chesapeake are you building? The 17 and 18 have pretty wide bottom panels so things can get a bit wavy. If you are a heavy person then consider that the bottom of your kayak will be more glass than is necessary for 4mm bottom panels . Or something like a layer of 4+6oz on the bottom and the same in the cockpit.
