Rehd,

Thanks for the heads up? Wow, bad money orders? who's responsible for that.

I am going to Espirito Santo the end of april. The same trip in the latest SK which I picked up yesterday to my surprise. In the Sea of Cortez. As far as tides there is a 2 knot spring tide. I'll keep aware of it and use it to aid in the crossing.

Well up here in Vermont we are somewhat protected from US speed. I wonder how much acclimation I will need, by jeesum! I'll be sure to drink one for ya and bring back some pics to share.

Tom

: Aallllll...righty then!!

: That's more like it. I would "Maybe" trust the Mexican Post office
: to get it there, maybe, in a couple of weeks, but, if you are talking
: Baja.... Not a chance. We don't even guarantee their own Money orders and
: we won't sell ours to folks going or mailing down there. I wouldn't
: recommend mailing anything to Mexico. Sorry about that!! :) One day I
: would like to do some paddling in the Sea of Cortez. I have done a lot of
: fishing down there and it's a kick, but, I hear the Tides are well worth
: watching as they are swift. They don't recommend small power boats on the
: sea, near the tide movements. The local fishermen only go out before and
: after in their pangas. That's a 22' to 24'long x 4 1/2' to 5 1/2'wide
: Canoe with a 140 to 200 hp outboard on it, just in case. Anything smaller
: and you will be fighting the current to make any headway. I guess if you
: planned it, you could use the current to take you way south towards L.A.
: Bay and do some dynomite fishing, and then use the tide to take you back
: home in time for dinner. :)

: Where you going? The Gulf or Baja? Where-ever, I'm sure you'll have a great
: time. We always do. Just remember, don't try to do everything in the first
: day. Try to let yourself relax for a day and then jump into the action. We
: always figure it takes about 3 days to wind down to where the folks down
: there will be reasonably sociable. They don't like anything or anyone
: that's still buzzing around on U.S. speed. :) See Ya!
