Without doing any actual test panels, I think that waiting til the end to add the second layer would result in more epoxy usage due to slightly more float on the second layer, plus at least two fill coats of epoxy to fill the first layer. However, it would eliminate the normal outer seam tape. This is based on a 19' Guillemot. 2 lbs is nothing to worry about but I would like to keep the weight under 60 lbs and that may be quite a chalenge with the 6 oz glass.
