2 layers on the hull? I use one layer of 6 oz and a football shape 6 oz. under it all wet out on non-coated bare wood. Don't use that thick 9 oz. fiberglass tape. It's too epoxy hungry and too rough to fill and feather. I use 6 oz. cloth on the inside and 4 on the outside seams. Cut my own tape from scraps. I use 4 0z on the outside deck and 6 on the total inside. It will save you weight and filling of the weave etc.

I don't believe any mechanical bond will equal a chemical bond but for our use either will be fine. go to a non blush epoxy which will give you mental security about mechanical bonding. However always sand between coats if it hardens up.
