Gene,

Pardon my ignorance on these matters, but are there any bodies of water that would be appropriate sources for a more symbolic fluid than grape juice?

I've seen bottles of water from the Jordan river, and the Dead Sea, which might be appropriate for fresh, or salt water launchings in some communities. Would water from the Holy Land, or from the Great Salt Lake be more meaningful than juice if you were to have a launching with a religious base?

If you go with juice, there are several varieties of sparkling apple juice (not fermented, no alcohol, just carbonated) that are sold near me -- and probably available throughout the country. These are bottles like champagne and have a plastic 'cork' that flies out with a nice "pop" sound. Apple juice doesn't stain as badly as grape.

Have fun with the launchings -- however you do them.
