Be careful: grape juice might stain clothing, etc. It would seem appropriate to contexualize the beverage by using whatever the scouts' favorite (legal and age & religiously appropriate) beverage is.

I agree, too, that breaking a bottle of anything over the bow of a boat is a bad idea. That's why the only mention of it has been to caution against it. (My original post said "pour" not "break"....) Not only is it bad for the boat, but it would also leave broken glass all over the launch site. Besides, there was something in the directions about doing an end-pour.........
