Hello Nick,

The ends of the kayak can be shaped to any radius that is desired (squared off, gentle roundover, whatever your preference may be) - it is simply a matter of spending a minute or two with a file & sander.

Pete Campbell built two gorgeous Spring Runs where he took another approach by actually adding walnut ends to the boat - they complimented very nicely the walnut strips that he used elsewhere.

Another very interesting treatment to the ends of the kayak was one done by Edgar Kleindeinst - he added carved ends to his kayak that resembled the nose of his dog - you would have to see it to understand what it looks like but it was very clever. Perhaps someone out there knows where to find the photo of Edgars bow and stern treatment.
