I suggest a harder wood than cedar. Cut it from the center of the tree, the heartwood, and cut it so that the ring is just the grwoth rings of a couple of years. That way the grain will go in circles around the circumference of the ring, and we can make up something poetic about the unending nature of both love and the rings on a tree.

Suggest something about those apostles who were fishermen, and how they were closely associated with their boats?

Who says the bishop has to be in a kayak? He can be in a larger boat. For that matter so can the rest of the wedding party, and the band, and the food and drink.

I think a party boat could be rented for the occasion, and anchored in the middle of a lake. The processional could be lines of kayaks coming from opposite sides, with the groomsmen meeting the bridesmaids about 50 yards from the stern of the party boat, then coming together and paddling side by side up to the boat. Those who can't paddle can use peddle boats. A small floating dock can be lowered from the party boat so the kayakers can come aboard, and then later re board their kayaks.

The precessional music could be from "Swan Lake" or maybe "Water Music".

The best man paddles out with the groom, in a double, and takes a position at the stern of the party boat, with the groomsmen arranged to starboard, and the bridesmaids to port. Then the maid of honor paddles out with the bride, in a double. and comes alongside the groom and best man. After the ceremony the bride and groom can "ecsape" in one of the doubles, which will already be packed for their honeymoon, after the bride tosses her bouquet (of water lillies, of course).

I'm sure it would be lovely.
