Has anybody read Woodenboat's article about Venetian gondolas? If so, I'm sure you've noticed the strong asymmetry of their design...

Well... I've got the first wooden strip gondola with a strong kayak-look-alike in the world!!

I've checked the missalignement and I've got aprox a whole inch offset!. From bow to stern really looks like a banana...

I assume that one of my greatest mistakes was to build both deck and hull with nine feet strips w/ weak edge joints, PLUS a home made strongback built of a plywood sandwich (I couldn't find dried solid wood, so I made up this solution). That allowed a lot of wood movement, and now I am paying the consecuences.

On the other hand, a couple of yards away, the boat looks great.

People will notice of this banana error only by the over development of my right arm (trying to correct the course of the boat by paddling...).

I've learned an important lesson: Don't ever try to re-invent the wheel!!
