I concur -- don't mess with a proven design unless you have thought it through very thoroughly. I'd stick with the parts just as provided by Pygmy. It seems to me if the panels are cut as you propose, rather than a more rounded profile, the result would be pretty much the original profile. If you take a panel and cut it into several panels, and stitch it back together again, wouldn't the result be a flat panel that is just a little smaller, the difference being that you have lost a little material from the saw kerf. (The rounded shape of the hull comes from panels that don't fit together when flat. The hull shape comes from the how the panels fit when pulled together.) I think that what you're wanting is theoretically possible, but would require designing three new panels in what seems to me to be a fairly complicated bit of geometry to replace the one flat panel with three more "rounded" ones.
