Ken,

The problem is that to decrease length and maitain displacement you need to increase something else (width or height).

The bolger kayak has a flat (from side to side) one piece bottom that is curved front to back. It also has a flat deck with a box-like cockpit/coaming. I don't think it would be very easy to roll.

How do you intend to use this short kayak? Do you want something with a decent amount of volume?
