Hi Garland,

I have used the tape and found it very convenient - like Mike I use a scraper (with a carbide blade) to remove the ridge.

Locally the tape is quite expensive - anywhere from $50 to $90 CNDN for a 50 yard roll.

Due the the cost of the tape I have started to cut my own strips (I use a bias cut) with reasonable success. I am using a very tight weave cloth so the "put thread" method does not work fo me. In earlier posts, a "rotary blade" knife (like a pizza cutter" has been suggested - Santa brought me one but I have not tried it yet.

For your first kayak I would recommend going with the tape.

Enjoy your building.

Hank
