There is a method that will prevent fraying if you use cloth instead of tape. I learned this from J.R. Sweet. Don't just cut your strips with a sissors. Lay the cloth on a smooth surface and locate the desired width strip to be cut, Pull the strand of glass that is a little wider than the desired width. Pull it out the full length of the strip. You may have to cut it every 3-4' if the strip is long. This leaves the cloth with one strand removed, Cut along this "run" with a razor blade. You now have a perfect strip all the same width. To prevent fraying. pull 2 more strands from the edge(just like a factory edge), this leaves a feathered edge that will not fray and feathers without a ridge. Try this with a short piece of cloth to get the technique before pulling a long strand.
