Hi all,

I'm starting a stictch-and-glue kayak. I'd like to get your opinions on the use of fiberglass tape vs cutting the tape from cloth. I have never used the tape before, and as I understand it, there is a bit of an "edge" on the stuff. For those who've cut their own from cloth........what type did you use...6oz? How wide did you cut it? How many layers of tape did you use? Did you cut one long piece for a seam,or did you use short pieces and overlap them? Would it be better to cut the cloth on the "bias" or just cut the stuff parallel (I have no idea how to spell parrallllell....!!) to the edge of the cloth. I have some extra cloth lying around, but not enough to make a 16' strip of tape. Anyway, I need some advice and suggestions for which way to go here. thanks in advance.
