I went to Pygmy's shop in P.Townsend to pick up my kit. The guy who helped me in fact advised saturating all pieces before assembly to avoid the possibility of discoloration (or at least that was his advise when I quizzed him on it). He also recommended System 3's clear coat epoxy. It added some expense, but I was very happy with the outcome. The clear coat goes on very thinly and gave me just what I needed to protect the pieces. Plus I had plenty left over for other areas. It is excellent for the first saturation coat on the fiberglass, then I used the regular stuff for build up coats. The extra expense isn't much, when you consider the investment (time and emotional, more than $$) into the overall project. I'll be building another this spring and will do the same.
