A couple of questions, please.

1 -- I am building a Guillemot Expedition Single and have just finished glassing the interior of the hull. I have not yet completed the coaming but both the deck and hull are glassed on both sides. Of course, the two halves are not yet joined. Is this a good opportunity to make such a seat? With more room to work? I would be happy to have a seat that offered good support up my back and down my thighs and took up volume in the cockpit that would otherwise be filled with water in the event of a swamping. Kind of like a rigid sea sock.

2 -- Nick's book (great book) discusses the creation of "cheek plates". What purpose would they serve in the cockpit with a seat of this design? Still useful? In the way? I already fit into this narrow boat with little room to spare (6'4", 235 lbs).

3 -- I thought of making a generous foam mold of myself in the cockpit, then cutting it into thirds lengthwise, to make removal of the sections easier (with the boat assembled) and glassing the three individually so that they could be removed even after glassing. Comments?
