It is cheaper to use plaster of paris than a second shot of the expanding foam if you want to make a plug from your foamed mold. The plaster of paris sets up in about 1/2 hour, and though it is damp, you can work it with sand paper and handtools almost immediately after it sets up, so you save both time and money.

The advantage of working with the original foam mold and covering that with fiberglass is that if you do the mold making IN your cockpit the top will mold to match your butt, and the bottom will mold to match the curve of the hull at the point you want to install this seat. Your 'glassed product will be a good fit. On theother hand, if you use your molded foam to create a plug in the shape of your butt, then you will have to add sides to this plug to shape the extra fiberglass you'll need for turning that plug into a seat.
