Interesting thread: Butt Molding - sounds like fun.

Has anyone tried to heat-form a sheet of rigid plastic into seat mold? A thin plastic sheet molded and back-filled with foam should be strong enough and very light.

I am going to try the "Chicago Swimsuit" method and try to contain the cement casting in a wood form that would be part of the mold and help define the sides and back of the seat.

Gonna make a couple of phone calls the see if this is a practical approach. Plan "B" would be the fiberglass thing.

Will let you know what happens... it maybe a while 'cause I'm up to my ears in building 'yaks right now.
