I used a beltsander and block plan to scarf 4-6 pieces of 4mm plywood and found the belt sander easier. Pile several layers of plywood linning them up on each successive bevel line. Make sure the bottom piece is well supported (3/4 plywood?)and use the beltsander to sand from the edge of the bottom piece to the bevel line on the top piece. Try to keep the plywood contour lines that become visible parallel to each other. Most important is to practice on scrap before. You may be surprised how well the scarfs turn out.
