The downside of a Forstner is mainly the size/depth of the pilot tip. I haven't tried it but I guess it's also a little too agressive for such a minute hole in a soft wood like cedar. I used a standard drill bit on the drill press, had no issues with that.
Wouldn't use a Router bit, it needs higher speeds to do a good job…
