Reclaimed is very viable. I've built or helped build nine kayaks and two canoes all made from a few old hydro poles. I've just started another canoe and have enough material for at least two more boats -- all with full length pieces. Also ended up with enough cedar for a few other projects all for the cost of having the poles cut up at a band saw mill. Good luck

: there a salvage company in your area? You might even look at
: used furniture such as benches and tables for the strip
: material. You will have to clean the material carefully but the
