Thanks a lot gentlemen.

I think this case is solved; No plywood strips, too many arguments against it.

Won't build for the moment but, was researching throughout the warehouses for suitable planks and was really horrified from the many knots. Construction wood is not graded here, so they ca throw out at you what ever they want .

Sincerelly I would try to avoid scarfing the strips more than once on the full length of the kayak. I'm in this respect rater lazy :)
