Scarfing strips using Nick's belt sander method is quick easy and effective.

I find that scarfs take less time and effort than trying to get the taper right on both ends of a strip when I get to the point where the ends need to be tapered.

In fact I think doing a scarf that way probably takes less time, effort and worry than trying to handle a pieces of timber that are over 5 metres long, 19mm wide and 4 or 5 mm thick.

Scarf the strips as you fit them on the forms and the effort and time involved is negligible.
