Yes, I am really looking forward to that sanding job :)

Ah well, it will wait. I will get the boat in the water after lunch today. I am just finishing up the skeg installation and deck lines now. Gradually, paddling pleasure is overtaking varnish disappointment.

By the way, I got a response back from Interlux right away. They provided the standard line about sanding down the defective coats and scrub brushing with soapy water a couple times before wiping with their solvent. I sure don't understand the use of soap rather than say TSP or dish detergent. My instincts are that soap is much more likely to leave material on the surface. I wrote back and asked them about this; it will be interesting to see what they say.

Meanwhile, back at the deck rigging,

Best regards,

Allan Edie

: Allan,

: It's too bad you've had this bad experience on your first try with
: this product, especially with the fun job of sanding it down and
: trying again! My friend Donovan likes to tell me that the best
: thing about 2 part poly is that it's 10 times harder than
: varnish and the worst thing about 2 part poly is that it's 10
: times harder than varnish :-)
