Hello again Dan,

Thanks for the information on your technique. It would be nice to find solvent proof brushes, but that is unlikely here is Smithers. Where do you get yours? Next time around, I will see if I can order some online before I start the project.

Mike mentioned earlier the bubbles left by using rollers, and the pinholes that can then result from sanding into them between coats. I used a foam roller when I tried this method, and it definitely left bubbles which are visible under magnification. Did you have this issue when you used the roll and tip method? Did you do anything in particular with your rolling technique to avoid bubbles? Perhaps your mohair rollers were more effective than foam on this issue.

Thanks again for your advice,

Best regards,

Allan Edie

: For Perfection on an entire boat I usually use roll and tip it. I
: use a 3/16" mohair roller and tip it with a 2" foam
: brush. For a smaller project I'll just use a foam brush. I spend
: a few cents more per brush and buy the solvent resistant ones.
: They are harder to find but last longer and leave a better
: finish. I've tried bristle brushes and I found I was using vast
: quantities of solvent. Straight Perfection looks OK but I
: usually wetsand and polish to a mirror shine. For the past
: couple of years I've been having my boats sprayed by a pro with
: a urethane clearcoat and now the Perfection for smaller
: projects.

: Still not sure what's causing your contamination... It's not the
: paper.
