Hi Allen,

Perhaps in this thread it has already been mentioned, but I assume you used the Y2333N brushing thinner when you applied the Perfection Plus varnish? I also use the brushing thinner to wipe the boat down which is one of the recommendations by Interlux. I use the West systems close nap foam roller pads followed with a foam brush for tipping, and have never had a problem after 6 boats. I mix the varnish the recommended ratio and add about 1/4 part of the thinner. You have to be careful not to load up the roller too much or you will have a hard time preventing sags and runs. I also usually replace the foam tipping brush about half-way through a coat application because they get too loaded up with varnish. The way you describe your problem I think you were getting air pockets from the roller which to me indicated not enough thinner.
