Yup, sharp knives are safer than blunt ones. I keep my kitchen knives in the knife block as well, edge up so the back takes the pressure.

Just realised, I don't have drawers for cutlery in my kitchen, or any drawers. Just cupboards. I never have the problem of the recalcitrant item jamming the drawer shut. :D
